Lesson Plan: 


Title- Learning the Basic Foundations of Improvisation


Theme- Utilizing different body parts and tempos in movement (emotional awareness)


Art Discipline- Dance - Choreography/Performance


Grade Level- 11th and 12th Graders 


Teacher’s Name- Sam Weissman


Volume- 3 Demonstrate use of emotions paired with movement, based on what music they hear. 


Date- November 18th 2024


Objective- Movement, Skills & Underlying Principles


Standard (Competency)- The student can perform ethnic dance movements with appropriate artistic expression. 


Plan (Activity): 


Warm Up- Students will go around in a circle and say how they are feeling today and what they are hoping to gain from the class.


Activity- Students will be guided in an improvisation exercise utilizing different levels, body parts, tempos, and rhythms to different songs and pieces of music. Students will go across the floor and improv as well as perform partner improv in a circle.


Cool Down-  Students will go around in a circle and say something that they enjoyed about the class. 


Assessment- As the teacher, I will have students move and improv as to how they are feeling in this present moment to see what skills and movement they learned in the class and that they can express themselves.
